My art explores themes of memory, process, and the suggestion of place. I create from an intuitive base, where bold shapes and colors predominate the compositional schemes of each painting. The relationship between unique forms sets the emotional tone for each work, while the sensuous qualities of paint and its application result in an array of arresting optical effects. Striving for logic and unity in each work, I utilize my responses to nature and my appreciation for the history of painting to evoke a dream-like world that is both conspicuous and abstract. |
